Message from the President

Welcome to the Lexington-Concord Chapter!

Chartered on September 28, 1960, our Chapter consists of more than 600 members. Approximately 50 percent of them are affiliated with industry, 25 percent with civil service, 20 percent military and five percent from academic institutions. We strive to be the premier Information Technology, Communications and Electronics professional association for government, industry and academia.

At Lexington-Concord, there is something for everyone. We offer a full calendar year of professional and social events that bring the local government, military, industry, academic, and civilian communities of interest together. Proceeds of these events benefit a variety of philanthropic causes.

We have a wide variety of programs supporting AFCEA International objectives, including the hosting of nationally-renowned functions such as the New Horizon Symposium. Our quarterly Distinguished Luncheon Speaker program addresses a range of technical and senior management related topics.

Our good work does not go unnoticed. In 2016, our Diversity Program won top AFCEA International acclaim for the fourth consecutive year, and our Chapter received 11 awards including Model Chapter of the Year. We’re especially proud of our Young AFCEANs, who captured top honors in every category, including the prestigious Young AFCEAN Program Award.

For more than half a century, education has been a signature Lexington-Concord initiative. A key facet of AFCEA's mission is to encourage students to enter science and engineering careers—Defense and non-defense related—because we believe a strong and creative technical workforce is essential to America’s future. Here, we walk the talk. In 2015, we gave nearly $67,000 in scholarships and monetary awards to support students in the surrounding communities including:

  • $26,000 to graduating high school students
  • $22,000 for the 15 area Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) detachments
  • $15,500 for various activities supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in local schools
  • $2,500 in Enlisted Aid for Education to Hanscom Air Force Base

Our Lexington-Concord Chapter is growing. We have increased our member base to include the Natick Soldiers Systems Center, the Massachusetts National Guard and Coast Guard Base Boston. We have started student chapters at the University of New Hampshire and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and will be creating more if these are successful. We are also expanding into the Cyber domain and co-hosted a very successful Cyber Symposium in 2015.

We hope you can see why we’re proud of who we are and what we do. We invite you to look through our site, and welcome any questions you may have. Even more, we welcome you to become a part of one of AFCEA’s largest, most active and award-winning Chapters. We invite you to view the items to the left and click on “Contact Information” to get started.
